Portrait of Carmem D.

22 min.   |   Portuguese   |   Brazil, 2015

Portrait of Carmem D. follows the routine of Carmem Dametto, a 72 years old woman. In a recent past, Carmem was a successful psychiatrist and contributed actively towards a more modern approach to psychiatry in Brasil. These days, Carmem barely leaves her house but still works with patients in her home office, located in the basement. Marcela, her daughter, lives with her. This movie observes the character in her house, the interaction with her cats and patients. The mother-daughter relationship is also present – absolutely present – with the affections and misunderstandings that are inherent in it.
